17 November 2016 – Entries for newsawards 2017 are now open. There is an earlier closing date than usual for entries, which is 27 January 2017. An entry form with rules and regulations can be downloaded from www.newsawards.co.uk/entry-form/

Headline sponsor for the event is Fujifilm, while premier sponsors are Agfa, UPM, manroland web systems, Aktrion, and Resolute Forest Products. WRH Global UK, Sun Chemical, Precision Colour Printing, Newsprinters, Drag+drop, PCS and Adyoulike are also confirmed sponsors.

“This year’s entry form has some significant changes to judging criteria and I strongly urge everyone to read the 2017 entry requirements very carefully to ensure that all criteria are met.”

One of the major changes is that the window of opportunity for national printers to select their copies for entry has been restricted to just one week. Printers of regional and local newspapers have one month from which to choose  entry copies, this is due to the need for three consecutive issues of a weekly to be submitted.

The results of newsawards 2017 will be announced at the 21st annual gala dinner on Wednesday 5 April at the London Lancaster.
