newsawards 2020/21 open for entries

newsawards 2020/21 is now open for entries. Winners will be announced on 11 November at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in front of around 450 industry sponsors and guests. The deadline for entries is 16 August 2021.

In total there are 19 categories and entry is free of charge.

This year, the Fujifilm Grand Prix will focus on the massive and disruptive impact the pandemic has had on the news media industry. The Grand Prix will be awarded to the news media brand that has most effectively addressed the challenges posed by the pandemic.

A new category for 2020/21 is Most Creative Use of Data Journalism which will focus on how data has been used creatively and innovatively to enhance news stories.

Gary Cullum, director of newsawards, says: “At the moment newsawards appears to be the only ‘actual’ event planned for the news media industry in 2021. We’re planning an evening that will give all of our guests the opportunity to celebrate excellence and to hopefully put the pandemic behind them and look forward to future successes.”
